Dear Brodie

A father from Los Angeles’ inner city leaves behind a collection of home videos for his son dedicated to honoring his childhood self, as a reminder to never lose sight of the man he’ll become when his dad is long gone.

Our life is full of moments worth celebrating — in the present or nostalgic. But how we felt (about ourselves) in each moment is what we tend to remember most. Brodie never loses sight of who he wants to be and when he becomes that man, he must never lose sight of the kid who aspired to be him.

The film is narrated by Brodie’s dad, who creates a time capsule for adult Brodie (Russell), the boy who always saw who he aspired to be. Brodie’s most significant moments in life, his “graduations” become narrated by the reflections of his dad, former babysitter, and neighbor so that he’s able to always remember the moments that made him the bold man he is today.
